Use of a linear stapler for the treatment of ileocolic fistula in Crohn's disease

Abstract
AimThe study reports an easy technique for surgical management of some forms of ileocolic fistula in Crohn's disease. MethodFive patients with Crohn's disease with ileocolic fistula (2011-2014) have been managed by the application of linear stapler devices. ResultsPostoperative course was satisfactory in all patients. At 1 year there was no evidence of stricture or fistula formation and no patient had required reoperation. ConclusionThe technique is easy and effective and can be used in open and laparoscopic surgery.
